YOUR TOUR GUIDE

Shirley Lum, founder of A Taste of the World, is a passionate foodie, avid 2-wheeled adventuress, and leading authority on Toronto's first and oldest Chinatown (one out of six Chinatowns). Since 1993, she has been designing the repertoire of Foodies, Literary and Ghost tours. She has been featured on television shows like TV Ontario's Imprint, BBC's Cook About Show, CNN's Travel Now, Canadian Travel Show and Food Stuff as well as radio stations like CBC 99.1 FM's Metro Morning program (on more than one occasion).

She is a member of Culinary Historians of Ontario, Swansea Historical Society, The Dickens Fellowship of Toronto, and Women's Culinary Network. Shirley is a three-time nominee for the Toronto Tourism Award for outstanding service in 1996, 1998 & 1999. Join her along Foodies walks like First Chinatown: 128th Anniversary walk or Second Chinatown Foodies walk for a chance to sit down for hosted dim sum, complete with tea pouring and chopsticks etiquette reviews (as seen on WTN's Modern Manners). If more intrigued by an eerier side of Toronto, then join her on the latest ghost walk Phantoms, Players and Pundits, which was launched for Halloween 2003.

She kicked-off 2008 by offering her inaugural Annual Chinese New Year Dinner Banquets and then celebrated the 130th anniversary of Toronto’s Lost First Chinatown with locals from that fading neighbourhood.

See what she’ll be cooking up for 2009 onward
